What the Procurement Act Means for SMEs

The UK public sector spends over £400 billion annually on public procurement opportunities. This spend is allocated across central government departments, the NHS, and local authorities. The Procurement Act 2023 is designed to level the playing field for SMEs in terms of bidding for; and securing some of that £400 billion in procurement opportunities.

The main benefits and opportunities for SMEs via the Procurement Act are:

  1. Easier Access & Less Red Tape
  2. Visibility & Early Engagement
  3. Financial Support
  4. Direct Feedback & Scrutiny

However, for smaller businesses, public procurement can feel complex and geared

towards larger Contractors who have in-house social value experts, which is where I have come from.

From a Buyers perspective, they want to see ‘additional’ value, timed delivery plans and

measured outcomes (& rightly so).

Nonetheless; for smaller organisations this can present a challenge which is where

Social Value 360 can help!

We understand SMEs are deeply embedded in their local community and by

contributing to the local economy for example, are best placed to create meaningful, sustainable impact. We bring your contributions to life during the procurement phase and can translate commitments (KPIs) into achievable, relevant outcomes which is central to your business growth, reputation and client relationships.
